Instead o...May I suggest somewhat better approach?<br /><br />Instead of messing around with update-alternatives which is complicated and platform specific, there is another simpler and platform agnostic solution.<br /><br />sudo echo "export PATH=/opt/firefox-3.5:\$PATH" > /etc/profile.d/firefox<br /><br />That is it, you are done.
